Brody was an absolutely amazing person to work with. My partner and I had a very tough time grappling with the Portland market. We started out with Brody in 2018 when it was clearly a seller's market and everything was selling either for 20k+ over asking or selling so quickly that one could barely do the paperwork in time to submit an offer. Unfortunately, the market got tighter. Two frustrating years and 13 offers later, we finally ended up with a fantastic house...at an amazing price, too! Brody not only stuck with us, he got us closer and closer to what we truly wanted every time with the situation we were in. Ultimately, we ended up with an excellent house at list price. This would have been impossible without Brody given the unprecedented nature of the market in 2020. In fact, our offer was beat at first. Yet, Brody was able to negotiate with the seller and coach us to make our offer more appealing with certain clauses while also being very mindful of what we were comfortable with, as well as what would be financially smart for us. I cannot stress enough just how essential Brody was in helping us find our ideal home in a time where buyers really shouldn't bother. The market inventory was 1.1 during a pandemic when we made our purchase. Given that, we still were able to get an excellent, charming home, with absolutely no repair issues at cost. Did I mention that Brody was also able to land us an extremely advantageous repair addendum on top of that too? As if the deal was not perfect by itself, he somehow made it even sweeter. At no point did we feel pressured by Brody. I kept telling him to let go of us because we were wasting his time and commission since we couldn't compete with other buyers. For two years he never once stopped giving it his all despite not getting commission until recently. His response the whole time is telling of his character as a person: "My goal is to get you into the home you want. That's it." He is a man of his word at that! Moreover, Brody was always very honest with us. At times, my partner and I wanted to throw all our money at a house because of its aesthetics or because we were just tired of looking. Brody, however, stayed even-keeled throughout everything and would advise us on when to hold our cards. We avoided many bad deals because of him. Brody ultimately was able to secure a fantastic deal for both the seller and the buyers. He is very friendly, professional, and diligent at his work. I consider Brody a friend now too. We were lucky to have his expertise and intuition. As first time home buyers, we always felt very safe and comfortable. At no point did I feel led astray. Quite the opposite! On the contrary, working with Brody helped make me more knowledgeable with real estate. He guided us well, communicated extremely clearly, and was always available. Towards the end, we were seeing 5-7 houses in a given night. Brody worked his tail off for us, and for that, we are truly indebted to him. We did not have the knowledge to buy a house. So we contacted a real estate agent who spoke Spanish, this person did not attend us so I decided to contact another real estate agent. Whenever we contacted him to visit a house, he was available. Let me just start by saying - I am a first time home buyer (owner now) and this whole process was really wild. There were all sorts of unforeseen bumps along the way, which happen when buying a house… But I was totally clueless about the process even with researching it for what felt like the better part of a year. I am also doing this huge purchase on my own without close relatives in the area.. so this was very scary to say the least. I didn’t know if I would find the right one. The right neighborhood for me. Something within my budget, but also not to far from my work. The list went on and on. Jon taught me so much within the first hour of knowing him. Victoria Gooley is amazing. We first met Victoria through Realtor.com she got us in to see the house we were interested in within a couple of hours. She was able to answer our questions in a clear manner. We had our house on the market for two months before we got an offer. During that time Victoria was always willing to get us entry to homes from Gresham to Albany even though we couldn't make any viable offers without having our house under contract. She was patient and didn't ever bring up signing an agreement to be our exclusive Buyers Agent. When our house sold she was always on top of any home that interested us. If you're looking for the best agent there is, it's Brett, without a doubt. He's honest, hard working, dependable, and personable. I cannot stress how happy I've been with him throughout this whole process. I am a first time homeowner and the entire process was completely new to me. I was lucky enough to have Brett as an agent, as he led me through the process with knowledge and compassion. Buying a house is a very scary thing because, for most of us, it'll be the biggest purchase we ever make. There are so many ins and outs, tons of paperwork, and lots of rules and regulations. All of this was foreign to me but Brett explained everything with patience and was always available for any questions. One of the many, many things I appreciated was how accessible he always was. I could call or text anytime and he always responded right away, no matter what day or time. I searched for a house for about three months - almost on a daily basis - and Brett was always available to take me around to view houses. I changed my mind many times throughout the process (from wanting a house, to a townhouse, to a condo, then back to a house), and changed my desired location multiple times as well. Brett was very patient and took me around to whatever area I wanted to check out and gave me valuable information at every step of the process. He was never once too busy for me and he made me feel like I was his top priority. He never tried to sell something to me that was not in my best interest and even warned me against some fixers that would have been too much work for me to handle. He put my needs first and helped me find the best house for me and my young daughter. When we did finally find our perfect house, Brett worked hard and negotiated with the other agent to get me exactly what I wanted. I felt like he was on my side the whole time. Brett made my home buying experience a breeze with his invaluable knowledge of the housing market and neighborhoods in the Portland metro area. He handled the process from start to finish and covered everything from recommending trustworthy lenders for my loan, updating me with lending status and meeting me at the lender's office on multiple occasions as we entered TRID, the new financing regulations that hit on October 3, all the way through inspections to the (eventual!) complicated closing. He went to bat for me during negotiations with the seller due to a failed inspection report on a class action lawsuit for the siding of the first home and we found another home when the first transaction fell through at the last minute. His response time and availability to meet at very short notice throughout the whole time to work with my schedule was a huge plus! I am so happy with my new home and without hesitation, recommend Brett Sweger to anyone!
